A leading Japanese printmaker. Drawing on traditional woodblock techniques, Kurosaki created abstract and poetic works that made full use of negative space, the texture of washi paper, and the subtle beauty of sumi ink. His works have been highly acclaimed in exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, and are included in the collections of major museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. He also taught at Tokyo University of the Arts, dedicating himself to nurturing many younger artists.
