Hidehiko Goto was born in 1953 in Fukuoka Prefecture. After studying wood carving at an art school, he studied printmaking under Kikuo Gosho and Matashiro Uchikawa, a ukiyoe printer, and learned printing and baren making. In 1979, he established Baren studio Kikuei. He produces abstract works using water-based woodblock prints. He is a leading expert in the production of baren, essential for woodblock prints, and a skilled holder enthusiastic about teaching younger artists and sending his works overseas.
