Toko Shinoda and Hoshijima House
2025.04.12(Sat) - 2025.06.01 (Sun) 09:30 ~ 16:00The Yoshijima House, standing quietly amidst the historic townscape of Takayama.
In this serene space shaped by traditional Japanese architecture, the works of Toko Shinoda add a subtle presence.
This exhibition is not merely a display of artworks—it is an exploration of the "beauty" that emerges through harmony with architecture. Under the supervision of Mr. Tadao Yoshijima, the head of the Yoshijima family, the number of pieces has been carefully selected, with a focus on the aesthetics and shitsurai (the art of space arrangement) inherent in the House itself.
Listen closely to the quiet dialogue between light and shadow, and the resonance of empty space.
We hope that the people of Takayama will once again feel the charm of the Yoshijima House as a cultural heritage site, and that this will be an opportunity to pass it on to future generations.
Please take this chance to experience the tranquil beauty woven by Toko Shinoda’s works and the space of the Yoshijima House.
