Rie Hidaka
Rie Hidaka graduated from the Ceramics Course in the Department of Crafts at Kyoto City University of Arts in 1982. From 1983 to 1986, she worked in footwear planning and design. In 2007, she joined Atelier OUTOTSU and began working in copperplate printmaking. She joined Kyoto Hanga in 2013 and became a member of the Japan Print Association in 2018, initially as an associate member. In 2024, she received the Associate Member's Honorable Mention Award and Gallery Award from the Japan Print Association and was recommended for full membership.
Since 2013, Hidaka has participated in numerous exhibitions and competitions, including the Japan Print Association Exhibition and international print exhibitions. Her awards include an Honorable Mention at the Nishinomiya City Exhibition, the Holbein Industry Award and Third Prize at the All Kansai Art Exhibition, the Awagami Factory Award at the Japan–Australia International Print Exhibition organized by Kyoto Hanga, and an Encouragement Award at the Japan–Canada International Print Exhibition. She was also selected for the Yamamoto Kanae Print Grand Prix Exhibition.
Her international exhibition activities include the Atelier OUTOTSU Japan–France Exchange Print Exhibition in Paris, OUTOTSU in ЭТАЖИ in Russia, OUTOTSU in Oregon State University in the United States, and WITHOUT BORDERS, an international exchange exhibition involving artists from Wales, Japan, and Italy. She has also held solo exhibitions in Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, and Shiga.
In recent years, Hidaka has continued to develop her practice through copperplate printmaking. Her recent solo exhibitions include O Gallery UP・S in Tokyo in 2023, Feel Scen in Higashi-Ginza in 2024, and a solo exhibition at Yoseido Gallery in Ginza in 2025. At the 91st Japan Print Association Exhibition in 2025, she received the Associate Member Award for My life as a dog 3.
Hidaka has also participated in the CWAJ Contemporary Print Exhibition. Her work My life as a dog 1 (2023) is included in the CWAJ Print Show Online Gallery collection.
