Shuji Wako was born in Sendai in 1953 and studied with HARA Takeshi at Tokyo Zokei University.
Wako’s masterful lithographs were first spotted by Norman Tolman at an exhibition several decades ago. For over thirty years he has been under exclusive contract to the Tolman Collection of Tokyo. The meticulousness of his craft and his own perfectionism have resulted in an extremely limited body of work: his entire oeuvre amounts to just 113 editions. His passion to create stunning lithographs, both in subject matter and technique is evident in his stunning works.
