Biography
ZHOU Hao (1960–2023) was born in Shanghai, China. He came to Japan in 1983 and studied printmaking at Musashino Art University. Working primarily in etching and monotype, he created quietly poetic compositions distinguished by delicate lines and a restrained palette. His works are characterized by abstract forms and carefully balanced spaces, where the tension of the printed line coexists with soft fields of color, producing a distinctive visual space imbued with a subtle rhythm. Since 1993, Zhou held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Japan and participated in international exhibitions including the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts and the Krakow International Print Triennial. He also took part in major international art fairs such as Art Paris and Art Élysées in Paris. His works are held in public collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Smith College Museum of Art; and the Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts, among others.
