Toko Shinoda Exhibition, St. Luke’s International Hospital, First Gallery.

2024.11.25(Mon) - 2024.11.30 (Sat)

This exhibition features two artists: Toko Shinoda (1913-2021), a world-renowned ink painting artist who was an old friend of Dr. Hinohara, and Yoshikatsu Tamekane (b.1959), an international woodblock print artist who spent three years in Paris and one year in Philadelphia, and also gave demonstrations and lectures abroad. Shinoda studied calligraphy and the Japanese and Chinese classics, and in addition to her calligraphy, he creates a unique style of painting that combines ink drawings with ancient and modern poetry. Tamekane's woodblock prints, which are printed on handmade washi paper using vividly colored paints, are a joy to behold. Both artists' works are widely collected by private individuals and museums around the world.
