One of the Kabuki Jūhachiban (Eighteen Great Plays of Kabuki).
Kiyohara no Takehira, who plots to seize the imperial throne, picks a quarrel with Kamo no Yoshitsuna—who opposes him—during a pilgrimage to Tsurugaoka Hachimangū, driving him into a desperate situation. However, Kamakura Gongorō Kagemasa appears, using both eloquence and martial strength to intimidate Takehira and rescue Yoshitsuna and his companions.
