Hasegawa Yuichi born in Aizu Wakamatsu was fortunate enough to have met and been mentored by another Fukushima native, Saito Kiyoshi, the first Japanese artist to earn the praise of foreigners in Japan right after the war. He employs “deductive printing technique” which is a quite unique printing method. Hasegawa also creates original paintings using the persimmon juice (kaki-shibu), lacquer (urushi) and sumi ink.
